- Completed the acquisition of the water system, making local ownership a reality!
- Fought to keep rates and the purchase price down; prevailed against CalAms 83% rate increase
- Fended off another 20+% water rate increase this year as we worked to buy the system
- By keeping rates down, kept the sales price down, too
- Avoided the inevitable doubling of rates (in seven years) by bringing the system under community control
- Provided continuity and proved abilities to operate system to state Department of Health Services; received permit to operate the water system in early August
- Master plan in place
- Got grants of $190,000 and $175,000 for water conservation and groundwater studies
- Sold bonds at the 30-year historical low
- Appliance rebate program for toilets and washing machines, a good start on conservation
- Worked with CPUC to facilitate fire flow improvements to water system while still under CalAm/Citizens ownership
- Reestablished fire flow testing
- Preparing to drill new test wells to address our water needs
